The Chinese National Flag

According to the National Flag and National Emblem Ordinance in Hong Kong, when the National Flag and Regional Flag are displayed simultaneously, you must strictly follow these rules:

  1. Size Prominence: As shown in the table above, the National Flag must be larger than the Regional Flag.

  2. Positioning (The Viewer’s Perspective): * When the two flags are displayed side-by-side, the National Flag must be on the left, and the Regional Flag on the right from the perspective of an observer facing the flags.

    • If you look at it from the perspective of guests standing on stage with their backs to the backdrop, the National Flag is on the guests’ right, and the Regional Flag is on their left.

  3. Height Priority: If using vertical floor-standing flagpoles, the flagpole for the National Flag must be higher than that of the Regional Flag. During a flag-raising ceremony, the National Flag must be raised first and lowered last.
